Will the modular base PCB be more or less rigid/stable as a single large PCB? Will a metal backplate be necessary to make it rigid enough? It might be a good idea to add a metal backplate in just to make damn sure that when people transport them the PCB won’t get flexed and crack.
The base and top panels provide most of the rigidity so they should work without any modifications but I could use a thicker backplate if needed. The small PCBs will just be wired together so small movements shouldn’t damage anything. Only way to know though is to build it.
A thicker backplate would be a smart thing to do just incase some roughness befalls the boards. I’m sure any extra postage from added weight wouldn’t be minded by everybody if they can have peace of mind that the board can’t flex and crack something. It’s always good to make things stronger than they *need* to be to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
neat 🙂

Any updates to the kits?
Anxiously waiting…. 🙂
