I might have to put one in my Datsun as a starter button. Would being in a vehicle (vibrations, movement, etc) affect its longevity?
Would it be possible to make it do a 3 2 1 countdown while being touched before it activates the switch?

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
I tried the washer idea with some medium density foam I had. It didn't work but I am going to try again with a few more layers and better sized metal washer to compress it with. My other thought is to glue the pieces together and compress them with my fingers until the glue sets seeing as you glue t...

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
The one answer I was hoping I wouldn't hear, and the one answer I was expecting to hear. Damn you: hope for the best, expect the worst, for always being there for me.
I apologize for not asking the question properly. What is the diameter of the pieces?

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
Life got in the way of winding the coils and few small things didn't help me get started either. What are the widths of the pieces that hold the coil? The spacer and bottom piece I think. I soldered the display pieces and the foil capacitors are getting in the way of the bolt and stopping me from ha...

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
I'm looking forward to all of it. I have an idea to make it easier too. I am looking for an app to that clicks every second for a set period of time so I can use the click as a wind indicator. One click equals one wind, to start. Two winds a second should be no problem once I get into it. Maybe thre...

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
Well, I have soldered all the diodes and capacitors on except on one capacitor. That capacitor is lost to the god of tiny parts that hit the floor. I was going to swing by an electronics store and see if I could get another on. 100N Capacitors SMD is what I would ask for? How common are these? By th...

Re: Powering up the complete parts
So I powered up the pieces you finished Tony. Very cool to see it live. I didn't use my multimeter because I wasn't sure if I should run it in series or parallel. I had soldered both pos/neg onto the board before I realized that wont work for testing in series and then I got a little excited and for...

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
I have done a little research in the last couple of days and while I would love to get a Fluke, I don't think it would ever be used enough to justify the price. I found a Clarke CDM45 for $15. I think it will be good enough. And good enough is good enough. Tony, I was wondering what that fat stiff w...
