Board PCB discussion

Suggestions for improvements, mistakes, hints here please.

Okay, I'm starting with the board pcb. I've got everything soldered up according to your instructions here (I think I have a 'later' kit, the board is black and I didn't receive the 100R SMD resistor @ R2 or the ferrite filter @ L1). Anyway, I am getting 5v at each of the driver transistors, but I did not see the 70-80ma increase as each one was added. I am still only reading 0.18ma DC between R1 and L1 when I connect the power supply.

Check you have 5V across D1, then for about 2V on pin 5 of IC1.
